“ITSM to Protect the Homeland: How the DHS uses Service Management”

Our 2012 Kickoff Program features a talk from Mr. Michael C. Brown, the Director of the Information Technology Services Office at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) after a catered lunch and networking time prior to the talk. The DHS Office of the CIO, has embraced IT Service Management (ITSM) as one of its core operating frameworks contributing to the management of the important and challenging mission of the Department of Homeland Security.

We are excited to announce the opportunity to serve as a leader of the largest itSMF Local Interest Group (LIG) in the world. With over a thousand members and participants, the National Capital LIG delivers the BIGGEST meetings (highest average number of attendees), the BEST speakers, and the MOST practitioners. Working as a member of the Leadership Team is a terrific opportunity to learn, lead, support a prestigious group, make an impact, and to demonstrate your leadership skills. If you are a paid and current itSMF member affiliated with the National Capital LIG, this could be your opportunity to rise to leadership in the LIG.

 

 

Nominations will be accepted via email from Wednesday, January 04, 2012 to 5PM Friday, January 27, 2012.

NOMINATION INSTRUCTIONS 
  1. Download NOMINATION FORM here (Members Only) (Please log in First)
  2. Email the completed nomination form with "LIG Nomination Form" in the subject line to avanjani@gmail.com with "LIG Election" in the subject line.
  3.  

    Note: If you are nominating someone other than yourself, please send the form to your nominated party so that they can complete their section. Copies of all submitted nominations will be available for viewing prior to the beginning of voting. The LIG Leadership Team is an all volunteer working board. Time commitment for officer positions averages 6-10 hours monthly, depending on event commitments and required support. For strategy and planning purposes, the National Capital LIG Leadership Team meets several times during the year. Officers are expected to fully participate in general LIG meetings that occur at least six times annually, and to attend most of the other social and networking gatherings. Full descriptions of the duties of the office are available at the itSMF USA website.
    The office of the President has additional commitments:
     
    1. Attend the Annual LIG presidents meeting which is hosted by the itSMF-USA National Board of Directors
    2. Attend monthly LIG president conference calls
     
    There are two positions available for election:
    President – Two year term
    The President shall: 
    • Preside over all meetings of the LIG and the Leadership Team;
    • Chair the nominating committee and oversee the annual and special elections processes;
    • Serve as the LIG representative to the National Board of Directors and in all official itSMF USA matters;
    • Develop and implement the LIG’s annual budget and activity plan and file it with the National Treasurer and the IG Services Administrator;
    • Oversee all LIG activities with and through the other officers;
    • Appoint all committee chairs and members;
    • Ensure that the LIG acts in accordance with the Forum’s Charter, Constitution and Bylaws, and Operating Policies and Procedures Agreement;
    • Submit an activity report at the close of the year during the LIG’s annual business meeting;
    • Perform other duties as may pertain to the office of President
     
    Secretary – Two year term
    The Secretary shall: 
    • Take minutes of every LIG and Leadership Team meeting;
    • Keep LIG and Leadership Team meeting attendance records;
    • Issue meeting agendas;
    • Maintain official records of LIG activities;
    • Be the communications liaison with the Forum;
    • submit reports on LIG activities to the National BoD as required; and
    • Perform other duties as may pertain to the office of Secretary.
